Abstrak

Sebagai negara dengan mayoritas penduduk beragama Islam, disinyalir tingkat pemahaman umat Islam Indonesia terhadap ayat-ayat Alquran masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemahaman ibu-ibu di Yogyakarta tentang urgensi menyusui, dan upaya peningkatan ASI berdasarkan pendekatan Islam dan medis. Partisipan penelitian ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yang terdiri dari 18 ibu di Yogyakarta. Pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam dengan instrumen pedoman wawancara. Analisis data melalui tahapan menganalisis data secara induktif. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa 87% peserta tidak mengetahui manfaat ASI eksklusif. Menyusui hingga 2 tahun dan tidak meninggalkan keturunan yang lemah adalah perintah Allah SWT. Optimalisasi pemahaman tersebut dapat meningkatkan peran ibu menyusui hingga 2 tahun, sehingga stunting dapat dihindari. Upaya peningkatan ASI berdasarkan pendekatan agama Islam disarankan melalui sumber-sumber agama. Secara medis, tidak memberikan ASI eksklusif merupakan penyebab dominan terjadinya stunting. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian baru karena memadukan antara pemahaman manfaat medis dan kajian agama. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi pedoman bagi para akademisi, tokoh agama, dan masyarakat untuk lebih memahami manfaat ASI bagi tumbuh kembang anak.
