About the Journal

The journal is grounded in Indonesian and comparative experiences while remaining open to broader international discussions. PENAMAS prioritizes manuscripts that demonstrate strong empirical evidence, rigorous analytical frameworks, and original scholarly contributions. This journal focuses on the study of religion in everyday life and pluralistic societies, examining how religion is practised, interpreted, negotiated, institutionalised and transformed in everyday life. This includes religious traditions, practices and phenomena, as well as contemporary and modern aspects, and policies that affect them. PENAMAS accepts empirical, comparative and critical studies that contribute to contemporary academic debates on religion and society.

Manuscript Policy

PENAMAS prioritizes manuscripts that are based on clear empirical evidence and rigorous analytical frameworks. Purely doctrinal, normative, or theological discussions are generally not prioritized unless they are clearly connected to social realities, cultural practices, institutional dynamics, historical processes, public issues, or contemporary social change.

Penamas (ISSN : 0215 - 7829 e-ISSN : 2502 - 7891) is a peer-reviewed journal published by Centre of Religious Research and Development Jakarta, Agency for Religious Moderation and Human Resource Development, The Ministry of Religious Affairs, The Republic of Indonesia (Balai Litbang Agama Jakarta, Badan Moderasi Beragama dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia, Kementerian Agama RI).

Penamas journal publishes original research articles addressing contemporary global issues and trends on the religion and society. It draws on the perspectives of various world religious traditions, including Islam, Catholicism, Protestantism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and local religious traditions. The journal focuses with research on religious activities of the community with cultural nuances and/or cultural activities of the community with religious nuances that have an impact and influence on society and the state. The published manuscript is the result of field research in which data was collected through in-depth interviews.
