Asymmetric Hybridity: Glocalization, Deterritorialized Islam, and Malay Muslim Identity in Pekanbaru

Suku Melayu Riau yang identik sebagai Muslim tak luput dari gelombang globalisasi kontemporer yang membentuk pola eksistensi mereka. Artikel ini mengkaji konstruksi identitas Melayu Muslim di Pekanbaru, dengan pertanyaan bagaimana arus transnasional pengetahuan Islam berinteraksi dengan tradisi Melayu lokal dan budaya nasional Indonesia. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertumpu pada wawancara dan observasi, dibaca melalui teori glokalisasi (Robertson), arus budaya global (Appadurai), dan deteritorialisasi Islam (Roy), bersama literatur tentang conservative turn Islam Indonesia. Temuan mengungkap paradoks: globalisasi melahirkan identitas hibrid dari unsur Melayu lokal, Indonesia nasional, dan Islam transnasional, namun sekaligus mengintensifkan identitas Islam seiring meluasnya dakwah media sosial dan aktivitas keagamaan di ruang publik. Hibriditas ini bersifat asimetris—lapisan keagamaan menanjak dan kian terdeteritorialisasi, sementara unsur Melayu bertahan sebagai penanda residual, bukan pusat pengorganisasi—menunjukkan re-Islamisasi terdeteritorialisasi: Islam dilepaskan dari adat lokal dan ditambatkan ulang dalam register transnasional yang terstandar.
